As the curtain closes…

Ok, time to take a bow. One final post on my epic adventure just to sum it up and give it a closure (like we need for most things like relationships long gone). If you had read my earlier posts, you can tell that it has been an amazing trip for me, way better than anything I expected and a once in a lifetime experience. There is no way it can ever be replicated. Enough raving about how great it was. I’ll just add some closing notes not previously mentioned:

  • Didn’t experience road rage till I got into NYC. Lane markers don’t matter and honking is inevitable. Drivers take what they can get even if it is just an inch.
  • Be prepared to carry a lot of cash if you want to drive on the 95 from DC to NY. I spent more than $40 in toll including $14 getting into NYC on the George Washington Bridge. OUCH.
  • North of Bronx, the drive was lined with gorgeous buildings that can make you feel like you are in Europe.
  • Penn folks are very nice. Ok the same goes for most people I talked to in other states. But Penn folks really struck me as nice.
  • I love Ohio. I won my first ever scratcher ticket in that state. YES! Great start to a great year.
  • Elderberry wine (yep, the one Elton sang about). Picked up a few bottles off the freeway in Kansas. The jam was yummy too.
  • Found the perfect movie setting for ‘Kansas Chainsaw Massacre’ in a tiny ass town (and I really mean tiny, like 2 mins of drive) called Holyrood.
  • Saw my first and only very upsetting sight in NM. This guy was carrying his possibly 4 year old daughter in the freezing and bone chilling 16 degrees weather just to get some sympathy points to hustle for free gas. I had to stop myself from giving him a piece of my mind.

Special shoutout to these great peeps for making the trip even more special and memorable: Ann, Ani, Tiff, Steve, Sara, Jeremy, JDP, Ro, Jess, Brit, Ashlee and Mark. You guys rock. And of course, this was made possible by my mommy. And a thank you to all my friends who weren’t able to be with me physically but were with me the whole way in text and fb and all other social media means 🙂
